Scope and Content Note
Color-printed cardboard fan bearing an advertisement for the Fayetteville Business College. The fan is vase-shaped, with the handle an integral part of the fan and reinforced by an overlay of brown cardboard. On the face of the fan is an image of a daydreaming schoolboy seated at his desk. His daydreams include images of Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The verso of the fan contains a promotional message "Compliments of Fayetteville Business College, 'The School You'll Like.'"

Biographical Note
The Fayetteville Business College was founded in 1905 by Franz Newcombe. It was purchased by H. O. Davis in 1919 and later operated by his son Frank W. Davis as manager and sometimes president. Between 1919 and 1972, when it closed, more than fifteen thousand persons trained for positions for the business world. It occupied a brick building at 309 W. Dickson Street from 1937 until 1972.

The Fayetteville Business College Fan was donated to the Special Collections Department by Judy Ganson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in April 2003.
