Reynolds/Thomas Research Papers

Biographies, 1908-1909

Manuscript Collection 770

INFORMATION ABOUT THE COLLECTION

John Hugh Reynolds was named chairman of the History and Political Science Department in 1902.  David Yancey Thomas came to the University in 1907 as an associate professor in history and political science.  Reynolds and Thomas co-authored the History of the University of Arkansas (University of Arkansas: Fayetteville; 1910).  The two men asked individuals associated with the university to write biographies of their lives and careers, for use in researching their book.

These papers include the biographical sketches submitted to Reynolds and Thomas.  Papers and clippings pertaining to the biographies are also contained in this series.  Biographies of University of Arkansas presidents, trustees, and faculty members were separated from the University Archives on March 14, 1988.

Prepared by Susan Lynn Parks, Special Collections Division, University of Arkansas Libraries, Fayetteville, Arkansas, in April 1988.

Special Collections also holds the photographs used in the book.
