Description: eHRAF World Cultures is a systematically organized collection of thousands of books and articles on cultures from all regions of the world. It may be used to find information by culture or ethnic groups or by cultural practice or belief.
Founded in 1949 at Yale University, The Human Relations Area Files, Inc. (HRAF) is an organization that collects, indexes, and organizes books, book chapters, dissertations, and other publications on all aspects of cultural anthropology. Since 1950, HRAF has been indexing these publications to the paragraph level, and organizing those documents according to HRAF's comprehensive culture and subject classification systems: It is important to note that cultures in the microfiche and electronic versions of eHRAF are not covered in the same ways; the electronic versions include more recent source materials and not all the older sources are retained. The Libraries' collection of older HRAF materials on microfiche can be found in the Periodicals Room.
