A large-format scanner is located in the Periodicals Room of Mullins Library (Level 2). This scanner may be used to scan maps, architectural drawings, and other large materials.
A few computers are equipped with scanners in the Research Commons / GACL / General Access Computing Lab in Mullins Library (Level 2). The scanner dimensions are 8 ½ ” by 11”; these can be used for smaller-sized maps.
For Special Collections maps and aerial photograph requests, the staff performs the scanning within the department as appropriate for the individual item. To inquire about scanning materials in Special Collections, use the scanning request form and specify the item, resolution, and file type.
The University’s Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies (CAST), located in the J.B. Hunt Building, also makes geospatial software and equipment available to geoscience students. CAST computer labs host GIS and photogrammetric software. Field instruments, including GPS receivers, may also be available to some students. Please contact CAST directly for more information.
