Congressional Hearings
- 1957 - [present]: Sekected Senate, House, and Joint Hearings from the 85th Congress forward are published online at govinfo.gov.
- 1976 - [present]: Selected hearings are received as depository items in Mullins Library. Check OneSearch under committee name or keywords in hearing title.
- 1970 - [present]: Law Library has a complete collection of published hearings on microfiche from CIS (Congressional Information Service). These are not always listed in the online catalog; use the CIS number on the ProQuest Congressional record to locate.
- Prior to 1970: Many hearings are also available in Mullins Library in print or microform. Ask at Reference for assistance in locating these older hearings, which are not always listed in the online catalog.
- If the hearings are not available in here at the University Libraries, they can often be borrowed on Interlibrary Loan. The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) has U.S. Congressional Hearings, 1869-1950. (Greenwood Press), a set of 15,808 fiche covering all House, Senate, Joint, and Special Committees. Be sure to include a complete citation as well as the set title for U.S. Congressional Hearings, 1869-1950, in your request.
- Many hearings are also freely available at the HathiTrust Digital Library.
Committee Prints
- 1975 - [present]: Selected committee prints from the 94th Congress forward are published online at govinfo.gov.
- 1976 - [present]: Selected prints are received as depository items in Mullins Library. Check OneSearch under committee name or keywords in print title.
- 1970 - [present]: Law Library has a complete collection of published prints on microfiche from CIS (Congressional Information Service). These are not always listed in the online catalog; use the CIS number on the Lexis Nexis record to locate.
- Prior to 1970: Many prints are also available in Mullins Library in print or microform. Ask at Reference for assistance in locating these older prints, which are not always listed in the online catalog.
- A commercial microfiche collection, CIS U.S. Congressional Committee Prints on Microfiche, collects all available prints from 1911 - 1969. These may be borrowed on Interlibrary Loan; be sure to include the CIS Number in your request.
- Some prints are also freely available at the HathiTrust Digital Library.
Congressional Reports and Serial Set
- 1973 - [present]: House Documents, Senate Documents, and Senate Treaty Documents from the 93rd Congress forward are published online at Congress.gov.
- 1976 - [present]: Selected reports are received as depository items in Mullins Library. Check OneSearch under committee name or keywords in document title.
- 1970 - [present]: Law Library has a complete collection of published documents on microfiche from CIS (Congressional Information Service). These are not always listed in the online catalog; use the CIS number on the ProQuest record to locate.
- Prior to 1970: Many reports are also available in print or microform. Ask at the Research Desk for assistance in locating these older reports, which are not always listed in the online catalog.
Congressional reports are also included in the Serial Set, the collected documents produced by Congress. The online version of the Serial Set covers up 1980. Serial Set bound volumes can be obtained from Government Documents; the Law Library has a few years on microfiche. To request a bound volume, you will need the Serial Set volume number, which can be found in the ProQuest Congressional record:

Bills and Resolutions
- 1973 - [present]: House and Senate Bills (H.R. and S.R.) , House and Senate Joint Resolutions (H.J. Res. and S.J. Res.), House and Senate Concurrent Resolutions (H. Con. Res. and S. Con. Res.) and House and Senate Simple Resolutions (H. Res. and S. Res.) from the 93rd Congress forward are published online at Congress.gov.
- 1989 - [present]: ProQuest Congressional provides the full-text of bills from 1989 to the present.
- 1979 - 2005: From the 96th - 106th Congresses, House and Senate bills and resolutions were distributed to depository libraries on microfiche. These can can found in both the Library Annex collections and Law.
- Prior to 1979: Commercial microfiche collections of House and Senate Bills and Resolutions are available via Interlibrary Loan from the Center for Research Libraries.
- Some bills are also freely available at the HathiTrust Digital Library.
Where can I find a CIS number?
The CIS (Congressional Information Service) number is given for most items indexed in ProQuest Congressional. Use this number to locate items on microfiche at Law or to request materials on Interlibrary Loan.
