In the past year the Special Collections Department acquired more than thirty new collections, documenting a wide range of subjects. This exhibit features nine of these collections. Several collections dating from the nineteenth century, including the Trulock family materials, illuminate the fortunes of individual families. Similarly, the papers of the Pettigrew-Johnson family include materials related to family patriarch state senator Thomas A. Pettigrew as well as his grandson Robert Johnson, who received the Bronze Star for valorous actions during the Korean War and who later was appointed United States Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. Other collections contain materials related to local history, including collections on the history of Dickson Street in Fayetteville.

One collection features the all-girls Camp Joyzelle built near the ruins of William “Coin” Harvey's Monte Ne health resort in Benton County. The colorful artwork in the papers of Lucette D. White provide testimony to the skill of a successful Arkansas-born artist. The records of the Phi Sigma Alpha, Iota Chapter, illustrate the activities of a women's social sorority. Finally, a collection of World War II-era correspondence between Leland and Letty Duvall document a love that endured despite the separation of thousands of miles and the horrors Leland experienced as a combat solider on the Western Front in Europe.
