Biographical Note

The Episcopal Church was organized in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on May 23, 1848, by Rev. W.C. Stout. The first church building, erected in 1854, was destroyed by the fire at the beginning of the Civil War and it was not until 1872 that the corner stone of a new building was laid. The congregation experienced rapid membership growth after World War II, as well as additions to the standing church buildings. A Parish House to serve the church organizations and the church school was completed in 1953, the sanctuary was enlarged, and an Episcopal Student Center was built at the University.
