Scope and Content Note
The collection primarily consists of family photographs and portraits of members of the Butler, Coulter, Braswell, and Bramlitt families of Arkansas. Also included is a newspaper clipping with a reprinted photograph of E. T. Bramlitt, and genealogical information compiled by Mary Elizabeth Braswell. Also included are two archived websites featuring an oral history interview of Mary Elizabeth Braswell that was commissioned by her granddaughter, Joan Hannan, and conducted in 2002; the videos were captured from YouTube using the Archive-It software.

Biographical Note
Henry A. and Mollie Coulter Butler had five children, Coulter, May, Mattie, Nannie, and George. Mary Elizabeth (May) Butler married Dr. Edward Turner (E. T.) Bramlitt, a Malvern, Arkansas-based physician, in 1896. Mary Elizabeth Bramlitt Braswell, the donor's grandmother, was the daughter of Dr. E. T. and May Butler.

Acquisition Information
The Butler-Coulter Family Papers were donated to the Special Collections Department by Joan Hannan of Denver, CO on December 31, 2017, to complement the Butler-Coulter Family Letters (MC 1086) donated by her grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Braswell.
At Hannan's request, Special Collections captured two YouTube pages featuring an oral history interview that Hannan had commissioned of her grandmother, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Bramlitt. These pages were captured using the Archive-It sofware in September 2020.

Web archives materials were incorporated by Katrina Windon in October 2020. The web archives consists of two YouTube pages that were captured by Special Collections using the Archive-It software in September 2020. At that time, the collection name was changed from "Butler-Coulter Family Photographs" to "Butler-Coulter Family Papers" to reflect the expanded scope of the collection.
