Acquisition Information

The Arkansas Association of Extension Home Economists (AAEHE) records were donated to the Special Collections Division by Liz McKay, El Dorado, Arkansas, on July 26, 2000. The first increment of the AAEHE records was donated in 1992.

Biographical Note

The Arkansas Home Demonstration Agents Association, the forerunner of the Arkansas Association of Extension Home Economists (AAEHE), was organized on September 5, 1940 in the Administration Building of State Teacher's College at Conway, Arkansas. Right from the beginning, the Association decided to adopt the Program of Work of the National Home Demonstration Agents Association and coordinate the state program with that of the national. Fourteen committees, overseeing the organizational matters, were set up in 1942. Most of them are still active. The AAEHE plays an active role in the improvement of family and community life through various programs, meetings, and activities.

Scope and Content Note

This addendum consists of Board and General Business Session minutes, treasurer's reports and other financial papers, lists of AAEHE officers, letters, newsletters, and other papers, for 1985-1994.
