From 1963-1966, Griffee worked for the Washington Star until she became executive editor of the Arlington-based Sun Daily. In 1972 Griffee moved to Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas and worked as a reporter for the Arkansas Gazette. In 1985, she resigned from the paper to become an independent journalist.
