Biographical Note

The Fayetteville City Hospital Auxiliary was created in 1909 with the initial enrollment of 56 members. Its primary objective was to aid the City Hospital Board by raising funds through various contributions and social functions such as benefit dances, County Fairs, flower sales, and proceeds from Fayetteville Opera House and other places of entertainment. Members of the Hospital Auxiliary, who were prominent personalities of the city, included Mrs. Jay Fulbright, the first treasurer of the Auxiliary, Mrs. S.W. Davies, who solicited funds for building the City Hospital which opened July 1, 1912, and others.
