Biographical Note

William H. Waggoner was born on August 15, 1834 near Louisville, Kentucky. He was a wagoner with Company B, 7th Iowa Cavalry Regiment from 1862 to 1865. He was married to Catharine W. Hoover on April 5, 1861 and moved with the family to Arkansas in 1888. William and Catharine Waggoner had six sons, amongst them Robert and Daniel. Their daughter, Mary Waggoner, outlived her three husbands, Gus Wenzel, J. G. Jacobs, and W. J. Hughes. William H. Waggoner died on January 27, 1918.

The Waggoner Family Papers were donated to Special Collections by Irmadine Doss of Rose Bud, Arkansas, on January 23, 1996.
