Biographical Note
The Wood family migrated to Arkansas in 1866 and established a plantation in Grady (Lincoln County). They expanded their business interests to include a general store and cotton gin. Henry R. Wood inherited the family businesses from his father Sidney A. Wood at the turn of the century. During the depression Henry Wood passed the businesses to his son Henry R. Wood Junior. Biddley Wood, the widow of Henry R. Wood Junior, operated the plantation after her husbands death but discontinued the general store and cotton gin.
