Scope and Content Note
The scrapbook of Alice E. Jones Mann contains newspaper clippings circa 1917-1937, two photographs--a General Federation of Women's Club delegation at the banquet at the Mayflower Hotel, Washington, D.C. in 1934 and at the White House reception by President Herbert Hoover in 1935, programs, directories, two typewritten poems, and other materials documenting the work of the Cosmos Club and the Arkansas Federation of Women's Clubs.

Biographical Note
Alice E. Jones Mann, daughter of one of the pioneer families of eastern Arkansas, was born in St. Francis County. She attended the Forrest City, Arkansas, schools and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. After finishing her studies she taught school in St. Francis and Lee counties. Mann actively participated in various civic and literary clubs throughout the state. She joined the Cosmos Club of Forrest City (organized in February 1899) in 1902 and served as its president in 1907 and 1918. By 1920, Mann was elected president of the Forrest City District of the Arkansas Federation of Women's Clubs; she was elected state president of the Arkansas Federation of Women's Clubs in 1932. Alice E. Jones Mann passed away on June 20, 1937.
