Biographical Note

Raleigh J. Shipley (June 2, 1844 - September 9, 1931) served in Co. M, 8th Missouri Cavalry. His name appears in the 1890 census of Dade County, Missouri, where he is buried in Greenfield Cemetery.

Acquisition Information

The Raleigh J. Shipley Civil War Diary was lent to Special Collections, University of Arkansas Libraries by Frank Vogel of Cherokee, Kansas for photocopying on April 22, 2002 after its discovery in "an old house" in Missouri.
