This collection is comprised of the records of the American Guild of Organists Northwest Arkansas Chapter including bylaws, NWAC's 1980 charter, newsletters, programs and flyers, photographs, and membership directories from 1980 to 2010. The collection also includes 5 CD recordings of concerts and 1 floppy disc.

Biographical Note

The American Guild of Organists (AGO) was founded in New York City in 1896. The AGO is the national professional association serving the organ and choral music fields. The Northwest Arkansas Chapter (NWAC) was chartered in 1980 and includes members mainly from Benton and Washington counties. In alignment with the national guild, NWAC's mission is to promote organ and choral music, improve the proficiency of organists and choral directors, and provide opportunities for professionalization. NWAC’s activities are educational, professional, and religious, and include hosting recitals, concerts, and events in the Northwest Arkansas area. Past events have included a Valentine Wedding Festival (1992), the Organ in Worship Workshop (2000), and numerous recitals and concerts sponsored by the University of Arkansas, Department of Music. The chapter, which is presently still active, also hosts organ dedications in churches throughout the Northwest Arkansas area.
