Donovan Marshall Photograph Album

 Collection
Identifier: MC 1530

Scope and Content Note

Album of mainly black-and-white snapshots. The album has been "repaired" with plastic tape and clear plastic along the cover and the front hinge, but is in good condition for its age. Some pages clearly pertain to Erwin Funk circa 1918 and later, and others may be assumed to do so. Some of the photographs in the album are labeled and dated and depict Arkansas subjects, including Erwin Funk. Mr. Funk died in 1960. Labeled photographs of Arkansas subjects include Van Buren (1912); Hope; Ashdown; Pike County; Murfreesboro; Highland; Kimberly; Nashville; Russellville; Rogers (1912); Diamond Spring; Cave Springs; Lowell; Marianna (1913); Forrest City; Flood District, Eastern Arkansas (1913); and a trip on a Lee Line steamboat (1913). Some unlabeled Arkansas photographs were identified by Allyn Lord, curator of the Rogers Historical Museum, in January 2004. Other photos include a wedding, 1903, pictures of women and men in bathing suits of varying styles, and service men in uniform. Tourist snapshots include Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, 1935, Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, 1938, Deadwood, South Dakota in 1926, Grand Canyon (Arizona), 1932, and a glimpse of Amelia Earhart caught in San Diego in 1932.
