Biographical Note

The Arkansas Daylily Newsletter is a bi-annual publication produced by the Arkansas State Daylily Society, Arkansas' first daylily club.

Arkansas Nurseries was located in McRae, White County, Arkansas, and specialized in trees and shrubs.

Arkansas Nursery Company was located in Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas.

Arkan Wood Nursery is located in Roland, Pulaski County, Arkansas, and specializes in plants native to Arkansas.

Benton County Nursery Company was located in Rogers, Benton County, Arkansas, and specialized in fruit tree and berry plants. It was established in 1915 by T.L. Jacobs, and closed between 1961 and 1964.

Between the Rivers Nursery is located in Eureka Springs, Carroll County, Arkansas, and was established by Joanne Sorn as a provider of landscape plants uncommon to the area.

Beverly Florida's Arkansas Gardener was a bi-monthly publication dedicated to gardening in Arkansas. As of 2008, Beverly Florida serves as the publicist for the Little Rock Council of Garden Clubs, Inc.

Black Diamond Nursery is located in Winslow, Washington County, Arkansas, and specializes in berry crops.

Boston Mountain Nurseries is located in Mountainburg, Crawford County, Arkansas, and specializes in grapevines and berry plants.

Cricket Hill Farm is located in Conway, Faulkner County, Arkansas. It was established by Joel Stout in 1982 as Cricket Hill Berry Farm, but was later renamed to Cricket Hill Farm when it discontinued the production of berries and instead began specializing in daylilies.

Harmony Ridge Farm was located in McRae, White County, Arkansas, and specialized in plants native to Arkansas.

Heritage Seed Company is located in Star City, Lincoln County, Arkansas, and originally specialized in heirloom allium. It now operates as Abundant Daylilies and Perennials, and specialize in Hemerocallis daylilies.

Holland Wildflower Farm is located in Elkins, Washington County, Arkansas, and specializes in wildflower seed. It was established in 1985 by Bob and Julie Holland.

Hosta Growers of the South was located in Conway, Faulkner County, Arkansas and specializes in hostas.

Joe Murphy Company was located in North Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas, and supplied lawn, garden, and landscaping products.

Long Creek Herbsis located in Oak Grove, Carroll County, Arkansas. It was established by Jim Long in 1987, and specializes in herbs, gift, and novelty items.

Nitron Industries is located in Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas. It was established in 1977 as a producer of nitrogenous fertilizers.

Ozark Perennials was located in Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas, and specializes in container-grown flowering perennials.

Pine Ridge Gardens is located in London, Pope County, Arkansas. It was established in 1992 by Mary Ann King as a supplier of plants native to Arkansas.

Rowlan Irises, established by Henry C. Rowlan, was located in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas.

Joseph W. Vestal and Son Company was located in North Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. It was originally established in 1860 by Joseph Vestal in Cambridge City, Indiana, as a producer of sweet potatoes. In 1880, vestal relocated the nursery to North Little Rock, Arkansas, and began specializing in roses. Joseph Vetsal died in 1917, but the nursery was taken over by his son, Charles Vestal. The nursery remained in operation for more than one hundred years after its relocation to Arkansas.

The Arkansas Gardening Catalogs were donated to Special Collections, University of Arkansas Libraries, on October 11, 2004 by Tom Dillard of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Additional materials are expected to be added to the collection periodically.
