George E. Kiser was born May 8, 1918, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Albert and Ethel Nichols Kiser. Kiser enlisted in the Air Force in 1940, serving in both the Pacific and European theaters, where he earned the rank of Colonel as well as the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal. He married Olive Lynn Evans of San Antonio, Texas while on leave in 1942. In 1944, Kiser graduated from Stanford University, receiving his B.A, in Business Administration. He went on to pursue an M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Texas, the latter being awarded in 1955. He taught at West Texas University and served as dean of the College of Business at University of Texas at El Paso. In 1963, Kiser accepted a position at the University of Arkansas in the Department of Marketing; he served as department chairman from 1965-1981. Kiser retired in 1988 and began teaching part-time at Ouachita Baptist University without salary as a gift to Christian education. He died April 1, 1991, at Springdale Memorial Hospital.
