Biographical Note

Albert Pike was born December 29, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. He moved to Arkansas in 1833, and went to law school four years later. During the Civil War, he fought for the Confederate States of America at the rank of Brigadier General. After the war ended, he continued practicing law in Arkansas, and was placed on the Arkansas Supreme Court, but he was only on the Court in 1864. From 1868-1878, Pike practiced law in Washington DC, appearing in a few high-profile cases, such asTexas v. White in 1869. After 1878, Pike moved back to Arkansas where he died in 1891.
