Biographical Note

Cecil Hardgrave, the principal genealogist of the Hardgrave family, has been successful in tracing the family's lineage back to 1500. Spending the majority of his retirement years researching the Hardgraves' genealogy, Cecil was able to create a nearly complete family history. During his years of research, he authored multiple editions of A History of the Hardgrave Family. In addition, he authored another family history, A History of the Hardgrave Family, Descendants of Major Francis Hardgrave, Revolutionary War Soldier. Cecil also served as the editor of the Hardgrave Family Newsletter and participated in the Hardgrave Family Association.

The Hardgrave family is rooted in Johnson County, Arkansas near Clarksville. However, the family is now spread across the United States from Florida to California, and nearly every state in between. The Hardgraves continue to be organized through the Hardgrave Family Association and they hold a reunion annually.
