Historical Note

On June 5, 1836, Arkansas was admitted into the United States as the 25th state. In 1936, to celebrate Arkansas's entry into its second century as a state, local and state leaders organized to create special temporary committees, promotional pamphlets, and even Arkansas history games in order to educate and inform the public about the important date. Arkansas leaders understood the importance of educating Arkansans about Arkansas history, in order to correctly educate those traveling to Arkansas for the event. Local communities organized by sharing their knowledge of their counties.
