Biographical Note
Judy Elaine Dockrey was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on June 25, 1949. As a child Dockrey attended school near Wagner, Oklahoma until 1960 when her family moved to Rescue, Missouri where she graduated from Miller High School. Dockrey attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield from 1967-1972 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theater. Dockrey proceeded to do her master’s work in Children’s Theater at the Dallas Theatre Center in Dallas, Texas. In 1974, Dockrey returned to Missouri to help her family after her father suffered a heart attack and earned her Missouri teaching certificate. After teaching high school speech and drama for two years at Republic, Missouri Dockrey took a position at Silver Dollar City as a storyteller.
Young and Dockrey met at Silver Dollar City and the two married March 27, 1982. Together they have authored nine books, performed on nine audio cassettes and four videos with August House Publishers of Little Rock, Arkansas. They have been feathered storytellers at the Native American Weekend at Lake Ouachita State Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas, the Nebraska Storytelling Festival in Omaha, and other festivals in Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas. Today the couple performs at Silver Dollar City, various libraries, universities, and other theme parks.
Biographical Note
Richard Alan Young was born on March 1, 1946 in Huntsville, Texas. During his childhood, Young and his family moved throughout Texas before they finally settled in Siloam Springs, Benton County, Arkansas in 1959 when his father took a job at John Brown University. After Young graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1963, he attended to University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages and a Master of Arts in the Humanities. From 1968 until 1993 Young taught high school Spanish in Harrison, Boone County, Arkansas. In addition, Young has worked at Dogpatch USA near Jasper, Newton County, Arkansas, the Great Passion Play in Eureka Springs, and Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.
