Biographical Note
In early 1871, John Bradfield,his wife Sarah moved their family to Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. At the time of the move, the couple had five children: Phillip (born ca. 1861), James (born ca. 1864), William (born ca. 1866), John (born ca. 1869), and Lewis (born ca. 1871). After moving to Arkansas, the family had two more children, Arthur (born ca. 1877) and Leon (born ca. 1880). After buying land in Saline County, Arkansas, the family opened a general store on their land. Their son, Leon Bradfield, was named Justice of the Peace in 1904 by Arkansas Governor Jefferson Davis.
J.A. Clifton was born in July 1871, and his wife Ada was born in January 1871. Married in 1895, the Clifton family had four daughters: Artie (born 1899), Rebeca (born 1908), Martha (born ca. 1912) and Beth (born ca. 1919). J.A. Clifton worked as a merchant at a general store in Pope County, Arkansas. Artie by 1920 had become a teacher at a ward school.
Rebeca Clifton married Dewell Bradfield, son of Leon Bradfield, on August 7th 1929.
