Scope and Content Note

This collection contains materials regarding Robert E. Morgan's academic career, his service in the U.S. Navy, and the Morgan family. These materials include biographical materials about Morgan (including handwritten reminiscences), photographs of the Morgan Family, Morgan's diplomas from George Washington University and University of Arkansas, Morgan's scrapbook and yearbook from the University of Arkansas, fraternity certificates from George Washington University, issues of The University Weekly newspaper as well as The Flat Hat newspaper, and a family bible.

Biographical Note

Robert Elmer Morgan was born in Bates, Arkansas on August 2, 1897, to Charles H. Morgan and Virginia Matthews. Morgan attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in 1918 with a Bachelors in Arts and later joined the United States Navy in 1918 but was honorably discharged September 30, 1920. In 1922, Morgan graduated from George Washington University with a Bachelors in Laws and married Nettie Jayne Estes September 10, 1927. He later worked for the law office of Poe and Lundy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Robert Morgan died April 26, 1965 at the age of 67 in Dallas, Texas.

The Robert E. Morgan Materials were donated to the Special Collections Department by Mr. Morgan's grand-niece, Valerie Hippard of Loveland, Colorado, on December 30, 2016.
