The bulk of the materials are photocopies of books and excerpts of books; other materials include Richard Goodbar’s transcript of a presentation and a handwritten letter to Richard Goodbar from F.H. Hunt.

Biographical Note

Richard L. Goodbar was born September 11, 1918, in Arkansas. He served as Chairman of the Committee on Publications for the National Huguenot Society, and edited The Huguenots: their history and legacy: biographies of ancestors of members of the Huguenot Society of Maryland: chronology of significant dates and The Edict of Nantes: five essays and a new translation, as well as illustrated I Remember by Janice Goodbar Davies. He passed away at age 83 on June 1, 2001, in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Richard Loewer Goodbar Huguenot Research Materials were received by the Special Collections Department, University of Arkansas Libraries, ca 1990-2015. The Richard Loewer Goodbar Collection of books, which this collection complements, was donated by Richard Davies on September 8, 2006.
