Biographical Note
The Arkansas Sesquicentennial Commission was established in 1982 by Arkansas Governor Frank White, in order to plan events, promotion, and educational opportunities to celebrate Arkansas' 150th anniversary in 1986. Tom Dillard served as the Commission's president; Virginia Fouse served as the Commission's first Executive Director, and was succeeded by Nan Brown. In addition to the the Commission's Executive Board and staff, the work of the Commission was also supported by county coordinators.
