Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of materials relating to Barbara Rondelli Perry's vocal career and to her experiences at Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony. These include CDs with audio of Perry's performances; copies of photographs of Opera in the Ozarks' 1957 performance of Carmen, and photocopies of a program for the "Rondelli Remembered" event recognizing Perry. Also included is correspondence from Perry to archivist Janet Parsch sharing some of her reminiscences about the photographs, and to Opera in the Ozarks general director Jim Swiggart.

Biographical Note

Barbara Rondelli Perry is an award-winning lyric soprano who has performed throughout the United States and internationally.

Perry was born October 19, 1939, in Chicopee, Kansas. She went on to earn degrees from Kansas State Teachers College (a bachelor's in vocal performance), the Royal Academy of Music (a licentiate diploma in performance and teaching of singing), and Kansas State College (a master's in vocal performance). Perry attended Arkansas' Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony in 1957, when she performed in its production of Carmen. Other operatic roles include Cio-Cio San in Madame Butterfly and Marguerite in Faust. For more than 30 years, she taught at the University of Toledo, and is currently a professor emerita.
