The collection consists of a letter from Walter L. Lovett, then serving in the 2nd Arkansas Volunteer Infantry, Company K, during the Spanish-American War, and stationed at Camp Thomas in Chickamauga, Georgia, to Robert McFarland. Lovett discusses his recent illness, conditions at the camp, and his desire for more letters from friends and family back home.

Biographical Note

Walter L. Lovett was born April 28, 1877, in Boone County, Arkansas. He served in the 2nd Arkansas Volunteer Infantry, Company K, during the Spanish-American War. Lovett passed away August 11, 1940, and is buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas.
