Biographical Note

Ozark StageWorks (OSW) was a community theater organization founded in 1988 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Its first production, in October 1988, was a production of Noel Coward's Private Lives at the Bank of Fayetteville. The group was incorporated as a 501c(3) organization in September 1990. OSW performances were held at at a variety of Northwest Arkansas venues in its early years, including the University of Arkansas, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Jerry's Restaurant. Ozark StageWorks' The Road to Mecca was the first theater production held in the Walton Arts Center, in 1992. OSW was active for more than a decade before dissolving some time in the early 2000s due to financial difficulties.

Arrangement of the Papers

Organizational records of Ozark StageWorks have been arranged alphabetically by topic or title; these records are followed by production and event-specific materials, arranged alphabetically by title, and then further arranged by format as needed.

Photographs and negatives have been foldered separately for preservation reasons; when there was more than one set of photographs associated with a production, acid-free paper enclosures specifying a photographic set number have been used to indicate which negatives originally accompanied which sets of photographic prints.

Acquisition Information

The Ozark StageWorks Records were donated to the Special Collections Department by Robert (Bob) Ford of Fayetteville, Arkansas on December 13, 2018. Ford received the materials from Sarah Burnside, a former member of the Ozark StageWorks Board of Directors who directed several plays for OSW.
