Biographical Note
The Scandinavian Club was formed in January 1992 in Rogers, Arkansas, as a social organization to allow members to learn and share about Scandinavian heritage and culture. The group's first president was Roger Iverson, and the first meeting was held February 13, 1992, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. In 1993, the group renamed itself as the Scandinavian Society of Northwest Arkansas. Later presidents included Clarice P. Hoggarth and John R. Concoby. The club produced a newsletter, Scandia Posten (alternately titled Skandi Posten and Skandia Posten) and hosted parties and events, including hosting Christmas celebrations featuring Santa Lucia and participating in Springdale's International Folk Festival.

Arrangement of the Papers
Collection materials were initially received in three three-ring binders that were created by club historians and roughly organized by date. Materials have been removed from the binders for preservation reasons, but have been retained in their original order. In some cases, materials were removed from plastic sleeves for preservation reasons or to ease access to multi-page documents; slips of acid-free paper have been wrapped around materials originally housed together in a sleeve to indicate their original order. An audiocassette tape was separated from the second binder and has been rehoused at the end of the collection.
An additional grouping of materials received in 2021 has been removed from an original, unlabeled binder for preservation reasons, but retained in its original order in Box 1, Folders 22-34.
