Handwritten letter, on bark, from Virginia Seidel to Almyra Love, offering life updates and proposing that they travel together, as well as discussing her harvesting of the bark for stationery. Due to the brittleness of the original letter, a transcription of the letter has been created for researcher use.

Biographical Note

Additional information about Virginia Seidel is not currently known.

Almyra Love, to whom the letter was written, was an Arkansas birdwatcher and author of the "Ozark Nature Notes" column for the Washington Observer. She was born July 19, 1894, to Adolph and Mary Barbara Dameier. She grew up and went to school in Illinois before moving to Oklahoma with her husband, Wray Love; the Loves moved to Washington County, Arkansas, in 1962. Love passed away December 4, 1993.

The Virginia Seidel Letter was donated to the Special Collections Department by Fran Morlan of Oceano, California, in December 2001.
