These records pertain to the social, economic, and political problems Fayetteville, Arkansas faced in its effort to develop and implement a comprehensive wastewater management program. All records are photocopies of original correspondence, memos, reports, statements, and clippings kept by the Fayetteville Board of Directors and the Citizens Advisory Committee.

Biographical Note
As a result of the Clean Water Acts of 1972 and 1977, and Fayetteville's burgeoning wastewater problem, the Fayetteville Board of Directors commissioned the Citizens Advisory Committee in 1979 to study wastewater management alternatives. In 1980 the Citizens Advisory Committee recommended that sewage be discharged into the White River, the Illinois River, the White and Illinois Rivers, or the Arkansas River.
