Biographical Note

First Lieutenant Joseph M. Bailey, Company D, Sixteenth Arkansas Infantry originally joined the state troops. He was initially assigned to the Fourth Arkansas Infantry, and was at the battle of Wilson's Creek. Later, in the regular Confederate army, he fought at Pea Ridge, Corinth, and Port Hudson.
