Biographical Note

Elizabeth (Betty) Bassett Williams was a 1941 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She was a charter pledge of the Octagon chapter of Mortar Board and a charter member of Orchesis, an honorary dance group. She married Franklin S. Williams, a business professor at the University. After World War II, they lived at Camp Neil Martin, a housing complex for married students and faculty. Mrs. Williams wrote articles for university publications, including The Traveler and The Screaming Eagle. Her mother, Bee Irene Knerr, graduated from the university in 1916, and her younger sister, Dorothy Knerr Bryan, graduated in 1924. Another sister, Ina Helen Knerr, attended the university in the early 1900's and was a charter member of the campus chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. She later became head of the cataloging department at the University Library.
