The Arkansas Children's Home Society Papers were purchased by the Special Collections Department from South by Southwest Books (List #25, Item #4) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in Summer 1984.

Biographical Note

The Arkansas Children's Home Society was founded by Horace Gaines Pugh in 1912. Dr. Orlando P. Christian was named superintendent in late 1916, when the Society moved from Morrilton to Little Rock. It was renamed the Arkansas Children's Home and Hospital in 1929, and has now evolved into the Arkansas Children's Hospital.

Folder about Arkansas Children's Home Society, Little Rock, and letter (2 pages, envelope) from the Reverend O. P. Christian, Superintendent, to John W. Gresham, Probate Clerk, Dallas County. Folder, letterhead, and envelope contain half-tone illustrations of children and Hilliard Receiving Home.
