Biographical Note

John T. Hicks was an Arkansas attorney and politician. He was born July 21, 1861, in Searcy, Arkansas, to William and Martha A. Hicks. May 22, 1883, he married Minnie Snipes; the couple had two children. Hicks practiced law as part of the firm of House & Hicks, served as Mayor of Searcy from 1884-1887, and ran for the office of Arkansas Attorney General in 1898.

The Commissioner's Sale Notice was purchased by the Special Collections Department from South by Southwest Books (Arkansas List #27, Item #55) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, in spring 1985.
