Biographical Note

Charles Ebenezer Daggett I was born in Marianna, Lee County, Arkansas, on April 28, 1885 and died in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on October 7, 1954. He married Ruby Irene Lockwood of Kiowa, Kansas in 1905. In 1908, he was admitted to the Bar of the State of Oklahoma; returned to Marianna, Arkansas, with his wife and son, John L. Daggett; and established the law firm of Daggett & Daggett with his brother, Jesse B. Daggett.

In 1917, Daggett & Daggett were appointed District Attorneys for the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company. In 1917-1918 C. E. Daggett served as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention called to revise the Arkansas Constitution of 1874, and in 1923-1924 he was appointed President of the Arkansas Bar Association. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he was an active and lifelong member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Marianna. St. Andrew's parish house was built and donated to the church by C.E., his brothers J. B. and Maxcy, and his sisters Amelia and Olive.
