Scope and Content Note

Xerox copies of correspondence, and related documents attached or enclosed, exchanged with Charles Hillman Brough, 1923 and 1930, with James William Fulbright, 1946-1963, and with Harmon Liveright Remmel, 1921, 1924-27.

Correspondence pertains to the life and career of Harmon L. Remmel, 1876-1927; Herbert C. Hoover's work on the Ar­kansas state geological survey, 1892; the establishment of a Warren G. Harding Memorial Hospital Fund, 1923; the opening of Arkansas Light and Power Co.'s Remmel Dam on the Oua­chita River, 1924; the candidacy of Victor C. Alderson for appointment as director of U.S. Bureau of Mines, 1925; commencement services at Henderson-Brown College in Arkadelphia, Ark.: the Southwestern Ozark Chautauqua at Sulphur Springs, Ark.; the terminal illness of Elizabeth Cameron Remmel; lnterstate Commerce Commission discriminatory freight rates for cotton, 1926; the candidacy of John R. Fordyce for appointment to the Interstate Commerce Commission, 1930; Hoover's support of Congressional legislation relating to international exchange of students, 1946, 1954, 1957; the 50th anni­versary of the Boys' Clubs of America, 1956; Hoover's refusal to express a view on the nuclear test ban treaty of 1963.
