Scope and Content Note

Correspondence, photographs, business records, literary manuscripts, printed and other materials relating principally to the personal, familial business, literary and other non-political activities of Winfield Scott Morgan, the Arkansas populist leader and publicist prominent in the affairs of the National Agricultural Wheel, the National Farmers' Alliance and Industrial Union, and other nineteenth century agrarian reform organizations and movements.

Materials include 30 items of correspondence, 1890-1928, pertaining to the publication, 1891, of Morgan's History of the Wheel and Alliance and the Impending Revolution, and especially to his personal, familial, and business affairs; 10 photographs, circa 1871-1891, of personal and familial interest; 61 tax receipts, deeds, promissory notes, stock certificates and other business and financial documents pertaining, for the most part, to realty matters; a number of manuscript or typescript versions of poems, articles, sketches and other short pieces apparently written for publication in periodicals; newspapers, clippings and other printed material, 1888-1927, relating to political, governmental, labor, agrarian and other concerns.

Winfield Scott Morgan (1851-1928) was an Arkansas populist leader and publicist prominent in the affairs of the National Agricultural Wheel, the National Farmers' Alliance and Industrial Union, and other nineteenth century agrarian reform organizations and movements.
