This material was given to the University of Arkansas Libraries by Professor Robert Cross of the University of Arkansas Department of Chemical Engineering with his sister Patricia Keltner of Little Rock.  The papers pertain to the interest of Professor Harrison Hale of the Department of Chemistry in the therapeutic uses of chlorine gas.

Folder 1.  Correspondence (1924) between L. F. Snow and Nat L. Shepherd of the American Bauxite Company of Bauxite, Arkansas, and officials of Wallace & Tiernan, developers of chlorine control apparatus, regarding the use of chlorine therapy for colds, respiratory diseases, and influenza. Also offprints of published material on this topic. Also letters from Harrison Hale, Department of Chemistry, University of Arkansas, to Shepherd with offprints of two reports from the Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry, 1920 and 1923, of his experiments at the University during an outbreak of influenza.
