Geographic information systems (GIS) is a cross-disciplinary computerized tool for viewing and analyzing information with a spatial component. Working with superimposed maps and data in a GIS brings a new perspective to fields including marketing, health and emergency services, agriculture, archaeology, environmental science, energy and more.

The Libraries’ GIS computer is equipped with Esri’s ArcGIS software. The GIS staff provides limited assistance with basic mapping projects. The GIS staff can help with finding digital maps and data. The University Libraries have an extensive collection of over 100,000 printed maps.
