Biographical Note
Ray Lewis White (1941-2001) was an educator and scholar of English literature. He earned a Master of Arts in 1963 and a Ph.D. in 1971 from the University of Arkansas, and spent most of his career as a professor of English at Illinois State University. In 1998, he was inducted into the Fulbright College Distinguished Alumni Academy.

The Ray Lewis White Collection of J. William Fulbright Newspaper Clippings was donated to the Special Collections Department by Ray Lewis White of Normal, Illinois, on July 30, 1984, in memory of University of Arkansas Professor Ben Kimpel.
