Scented Products Policy

All library personnel should refrain from using perfumes, aftershaves, and other scented personal products while working in the library. Many find these scented products annoying, and a number of people who are exposed to them on a daily basis can experience a variety of allergic reactions — some possibly long-term and severe — including headaches, nausea, respiratory complaints, itchy eyes, and sore throats. Treating these symptoms may require medication, visits to the doctor, and even long-term sick leave.

All supervisors are responsible for informing — and reminding — their employees (including hourly employees and work-study students) of this request.
