Reconciling quenching data from frequency domain photoluminescence measurements with those from time domain experiments for multi-exponentially decaying emitters.

The dynamic quenching of chromophores with single exponential decay profiles can be equally well characterized by frequency and time domain photoluminescence measurements. However, for the case of chromophores exhibiting multi-exponential decay profiles, connecting this data is not trivial. When considering dynamic quenching of multi-exponential systems, the integrals of the decays and assocd. components are required where only lifetimes are needed for consideration of single exponential decaying emitters. Here, the quenching of multi-exponentially decaying systems is treated math. for the case of time domain data, and the connection between the time and frequency data is explored.
