Nanocrystal in dendron-box: a versatile solution to the chemical, photochemical, and thermal instability of colloidal nanocrystals

by Guo, W. Z.; Peng, X. G.

This account summarizes the recent development of dendron and dendron-box stabilized nanocrystals (dendron-nanocrystals and box-nanocrystals) by Peng's research group. The rationale, the design of the dendron ligands, and the strategies for the formation of a box-nanocrystal are all discussed. The superior stability of the box-nanocrystal against harsh chemical, photochemical and thermal treatments is discussed. Two examples of the applications of box-nanocrystals are given. A brief perspective is provided for the future development of this emerging research area.
