Vinyl-Allene ligand synthesis for metal carbonyl complexes.

The reaction of unsaturated organic compounds with organometallic reagents has led to a variety of useful organic transformations. In many cases, these reactions have been studied, but their mechanisms are not well established. In this study, preliminary experiments aimed at the preparation of (5-bromo-1,6,6-trimethyl-hepta-1,2,4-trienyl)benzene, 1, were sought to study mechanisms of ligand reactions in an iron complex coordination sphere. The synthesis of compound 1 will be presented.
