by Kilyanek, Stefan M.

This presentation consists of a first-person account of a visually impaired chemist in the research lab. Accommodations necessary for use of instrumentation and synthetic chem. techniques will be discussed. Environmental health and safety accommodations management and concerns will be discussed. Addnl., accommodations for researchers and students in science will be discussed in a broad context. The work of a PI and research mentor will be discussed including how an entire research group functions with accommodations for the visually impaired. In particular, mentoring techniques focusing on the study of the electrochem. of novel early transition metal complexes will be discussed.
