Arkansas football has always been more than just a college sport, it's a unifying force. Long before the box seats and the elaborate tailgate parties, students played on a primitive field with a Latin professor for a coach. The first full time coach, Hugo Bezdek, described the undefeated 1909 team as a wild band of razorback hogs, and the Razorbacks were born.

Curated by University Archivist Amy Allen, this exhibit explores University of Arkansas football history and culture through photographs and ephemera. Learn how the U of A stadium has hosted current and future world leaders and celebrities on the field and in the stands. Take a look and discover how Arkansas football culture has evolved over the past 120 years. See the Arkansas Traveler headline when the Razorbacks won their only national championship in 1965 alongside ticket stubs and programs from less celebrated but still fondly remembered years.

From moments of pride to times of laughter, the exhibit showcases illustrious alumni as well as the countless students and fans who have remained true. We see a young J.W. Fulbright kicking a winning field goal in 1922 then "crowning" the 1950 homecoming Queen, Betty Jo Simmons, with a red baseball cap in lieu of a misplaced crown, after he has become President of the University. Scrapbook memorabilia including pep rally flyers and personal photographs of school days gone by show how personal the love of the Razorbacks is.
